Interfaith peacemakers call for comprehensive peace in Afghanistan

Our friends at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena are leading the charge in opposing the troop escalation in Afghanistan and promoting peaceful solutions. They held a press conference earlier this month featuring representatives from the interfaith peacemaking community. The speakers eloquently addressed the tragic consequences of war and the mandate for peace that is at the core of religious tradition.

Here Rector Emeritus George Regas recalls Rep. Barbara Lee’s (D-CA) brave vote against the war in Afghanistan, and calls on President Obama to be a peace and justice president:

Veteran activist Tom Hayden praised All Saints for their commitment to activism and called for vigorous congressional oversight of President Obama’s plans for Afghanistan, and a new era of transparency:
