National call-in day: tell Obama no more troops

THANK YOU to the thousands of you who have already called the White House, and my heartfelt apologies if you had trouble with our toll-free number. Today peace groups across the country are holding a national call-in day, and we are using the direct White House line so you won’t have problems getting through.

Call President Obama today at 1-202-456-1111 between 9am and 5pm Eastern Time and tell him you want an alternative in Afghanistan that doesn’t include a troop increase.

There is mounting evidence that our perspective is getting through to the White House. Last week, representatives of nongovernmental organizations including Peace Action, met with administration officials to discuss a new approach in Afghanistan. Members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus just sent President Obama a letter asking for a meeting and calling for a “comprehensive rethinking” of Afghanistan strategy. We’re getting through, and we can’t let up now.
