The WikiLeaks story will have some legs for some time, which is probably a good thing. There are things to criticize WikiLeaks about, but in general the website is performing an invaluable service in helping expose the lies and brutality underlying U.S. military and foreign policy. The sooner we understand the deep-rooted sickness of US militarism, and how it has metastasized even as we are clearly an Empire in decline, the better for all Americans, and for the world.  “Cablegate” is an important contribution to building that understanding.

We’ll likely have more to say ourselves soon, but in the meantime here are articles on WikiLeaks by colleagues Phyllis Bennis and Josh Ruebner, both on Hufffington Post, and Tom Hayden.
